WHAT YOU CAN DO

Professional Host

If you are interested in professionally engaging with emerging leaders coming to Chicago, there are two different ways to get involved: hosting a professional meeting as a content expert or mentoring a Professional Fellow.

Host a Professional Meeting

Professional meetings and site visits with local Chicagoans and organizations help immerse our participants into the American landscape and allow for deeper understandings and connections. Given the wide breadth of varying program themes, WorldChicago welcomes content experts across different fields to connect with our participants and discuss topics of their choice.

  • Length of engagement

Approximately 90min, depending on program and theme*

  • Flexible format

Typically, an introduction or brief presentation followed by Q&A

  • Topics

Discussion of your organization’s work, current projects, and/or industry practices. More broadly, past meetings have focused on communications, action planning, advocacy, or other leadership skills

  • Flexible location

Meetings can take place in your office, on a site visit, as a tour, or at WorldChicago’s office

  • Delegations range

In size from 1 to 25 participants

  • Meetings are conducted in English

    Interpretation provided as needed

  • Feel free to ask questions of the visitors!

These meetings are meant to be engaging for all parties involved.

If you are interested in mentoring an emerging leader and learning about your industry in a foreign country, consider hosting a professional fellow.

Host a Professional Fellow

Professional Fellows are eager to learn about best practices and innovations in their industries here in the U.S. and Chicago. To maximize their time and growth during the Fellowship, participants are matched with a professional host based on their experience and industry. As a professional host, you will have the opportunity to mentor an emerging leader while also benefiting from the high level of expertise and knowledge our participants bring, providing insight into the workings and trends of your industry abroad. These fellowships can create strong bonds and help both your organization and your fellow flourish.

WorldChicago will provide professional hosts with Fellow’s biography, program objectives, and when available, talking points in advance of the visitor’s arrival.

  • Length of engagement

Ranges from 2 to 4 weeks

  • One-on-one engagement with a Fellow

    (rather than the entire cohort)

  • Consists

of job shadowing, research, meeting with your team and industry peers, small administrative projects, etc.

  • Host should be

a dedicated staff member, intended to be Fellow’s supervisor and primary point-of-contact with WorldChicago

  • Fellows have

professional English-speaking proficiency and will not require a translator

  • Requirements

may slightly vary based on program
